From Mr. Rector
As Mr. Deuger mentioned in his email about summer camp, we will have a high adventure option the week of July 5-11 at Camp Pipsico for adults and Scouts (14 and older for PEX, 13 and older for SCUBA). I have included the link for the camp’s high adventure programs. They are offering PEX (Pipsico Experience) and SCUBA, but, unfortunately, Sail Hampton Roads is not offered the week we are going. The cost of PEX is $475 for youth and $400 for adults. SCUBA is $645 for both youth and adults. There is a $20 discount for both programs if paid in full by 4/1/20. Base camp is available for leaders that are not interested in PEX or SCUBA and the fee is $140. Availability is limited for PEX (12 spots for youth, 2 for adults) and SCUBA (10 spots for youth, 2 for adults), so I would like to reserve spots as soon as possible. If you are interested in joining us for high adventure at Pipsico this summer, please let me know and I will start the reservation process.

From Mr. Deuger:
Now that the new years has passed and the cold winter wind blows we all look to the warmer days of summer and our best outing of the year, summer camp. Troop 511 has two different excursions to choose from this year. Mr. Rector is planning a high adventure trip to Pipsico in Virginia the week of July 5 to 11, he will be advising the troop on that trip soon. This year the troop is going to Camp Ho Non Wah for our regular summer camp the week of June 28 to July 4. Camp Ho Non Wah is outside Charleston SC on the Atlantic coast. Camp Ho Non Wah offers the Woodsman program for 1st year scouts, regular merit badge program and Bohicket Towne where you live like the settlers did in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. More information will be coming out about these programs soon. We are working on opening up the registration on our troop website and will have that going soon too. We want to get the early bird cost for camp so we are targeting to have all fees payed to the camp by May 1st. For the merit badge program the fee is $300, Woodsman program fee is $330 and Bohicket Towne cost is $370. In order to make the May 1st deadline all fees are due to the troop by April14th. Additional troop fees will apply for travel and lunch on the day we travel to camp, amount has yet to be determined. The fee for adults this year is $150 and I am hoping for the usual 8 leaders to accompany the scouts. Any questions or concerns, let me know. More information will be flooding out as the days go by.
Hello everyone!
We are having a few Troop hikes this winter (dates below). Great prep for the 14 mile backpacking trip in March or just because you enjoy hiking. Please come join us for some fresh air and exercise.
Important information:
1. Come prepared with your 10 essentials in your day pack. Wear weather appropriate clothing and bring plenty of water.
2. Be on time and have a great attitude. Scouts, no RSVP is required but be on time. Parents, if your Scout arrives late you may NOT drop off your scout and tell him to catch up with us. You must hike with your Scout until you catch up with the group or choose to join us another day.
3. Return times are approximate and will depend on the pace of the group. If you are on a tight time schedule please join us for a different hike.
4. You must sign your Scout in and give us a emergency contact number. Do NOT drop your Scout off and leave.
5. If a non Troop 511 Scout (such as a sibling) wants to hike with us the parents must hike with us also. 6. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome.

I was not at tonight’s meeting, but, from what I heard it sounds like at tonight’s meeting we had a great White Elephant gift exchange. There are no troop meetings for the rest of December. The next meeting will be on 1/7. There is a PLC that night. The Rabon’s will be bringing the pizza, but at next PLC we will be doing a sign-up for future pizza pick-ups for meetings at PLC.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
Matthew R.
At Tonight’s meeting we had a skills instruction related to financial management. If you have a tent, please give it to one of our quartermasters instead of dropping it in the gym. On 12/3 (next meeting) we will be voting on summer camps. YOU MUST BE THERE TO VOTE. On 12/10 we will be having a white elephant gift exchange. Please bring a gift around 10 dollars. There are no meetings on 12/17, 12/24, and 12/31.
